Tablighi Jamaat: Why FBI finds it a “recruiting ground” for Al Qaeda?

(This is a reprint from NewsBred).

Tablighi Jamaat hates attention from the world. They prefer secrecy. But once Corona Vurs patients narrated their travel history from around India, the Nizamuddin headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat kept popping up. It blew the cover off on Monday.

Why Tablighi wishes to slip under the radar? How is it even possible with 80 million members, spread over 150 countries (Figures Pew Research Center) ? How it has evaded discourse in public when its’ nearly 100 years since it was born? More so when, its’ essence is to proselytize Islamic tenets?

Well, some did take notice all this while. A clutch of Central Asian countries—Uzbekistan, Tajikstan, Kazakhstan—have banned it.  Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States feels its’ breeding ground for Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. A WikiLeaks document released in 2011 claimed that Al Qaeda operatives used its’ Nizamuddin headquarters to obtain travel documents and shelter.

Kafeel Ahmed, a part of this movement, was arrested for the failed attack on Glasgow airport in 2007. A series of coordinated terrorist suicide attacks in London on July 7, 2005,  known as 7/7, which targeted commuters in the city’s public transport system, were carried out by Shehzad Tanveer and Mohammed Saddique Khan who used to pray at a Tablighi masque in Dewsbury, England.

Still Tablighi evades attention. And that’s because its goals appear innocuous. It wants to recreate lives of Muslims in the image of the Prophet Muhammad. The beard has to be of certain length; teeth-cleaning ought to be done with miswak (twig) and not toothbrush.  It professes to be apolitical. Women are segregated; often they sit in one room while a Tabligh elder shouts a lecture from behind a closed door.  It discourages worldly activities, ostensibly to prepare them for the Judgment Day,  From mosque to mosque, cities to cities, states to states, countries to countries, its missionary bands knock at doors, preaching a return to “pure” Islamic values. The lure seems pretty harmless: Why don’t you join us for a few days on the road and see for yourself?

Such promises often attract youth, angry or lacking identity. Men who want things in black and white, and nothing in gray. The other-worldliness holds attraction. The society around loses its lustre. “People are tutored that you don’t fit in, modern world is an aberration, an offense, some form of blasphemy,” says Khaled Abou El Fadl, an Islamic professor in US, “By preparing people in this fashion, you are preparing them to be in a state of warfare against the world.”

This detachment perfectly suits terror groups like Al Qaeda. Those with intense zealousness in Islam are kept in eye. Al Qaeda fish in the Tablighi pond of alienated and escapist youths. ”We have a significant presence of Tablighi Jamaat in the United States, and we have found that Al Qaeda used them for recruiting, now and in the past,” said Michael J. Heimbach, the deputy chief of the F.B.I.’s international terrorism section.

A chilling analogy is drawn: Tablighi Jamaat is like electricians who set up poles and draw up lines. Till one day the mayor comes and switches on the lights.

Tablighi Jamaat, an Arabic word, means the “group that propagates the faith.” It’s hierarchical. There is an Ameer who dispenses advice to everyone.  Full-time members are usually elders. They make up the Shura or the Council. Younger members of course make up the missionary band. There is a daily mashoora (gathering).

In its Nizamuddin headquarters, Indian Muslims occupy the first floor. Arabs, Algerians, Tunisians, Indonesians, Malayasian etc devouts are spread on different floors. There is a room for communal lunch: people squat on the floor and eat on plastic sheets. There is little time spent on food or sleep. But for a brief siesta, most of the day is spent in Quranic recitation.

Malaysian political scientist, Farish Noor, says in his book Islam on the Move: “Saudi national Abdul Bukhary who was on the watch-list of numerous countries had managed to get himself into the Tablighi markaz (Centre) in Nizamuddin while claiming to be a Tablighi too.” FBI is on record that it has found Al Qaeda was using Tablighi Jamaat for recruiting new terrorists.

How is it funded? No one knows for sure. But the numbers are big. Nizamuddin markaz affords massive accommodation with accompanying food etc. An analyst, Alex Alexiev, wrote way back in 2005: “There is no doubt that some of the vast sums spent by Saudi organizations such as the World Muslim League on proselytism benefit Tablighi Jamaat.” For instance, the Tablighi headquarters of Europe, built in England, was funded by World Muslim League way back in 1978.

Tablighi Jamaat originated in Mewat region (now part of Haryana and Rajasthan) in 1926. The local muslims, known as Meos, shared Hindu traditions, like pheras (going around the sacred fire) in marriage; and celebrated Hindu festivals as they did their own, Eid etc.  In due course, local Muslims, to hold on to their identity, began Tablighi Jamaat.  Islamic scholar Maulana Muhammad Ilyas is said to have begun it.

The last word must belong to Mushirul Hasan, former vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia. “Tablighi Jamaat claims to be totally apolitical. It’s a very convenient statement. No movement is apolitical. Every moment has an objective.”

In the present Corona tremor induced by Tablighi Jamaat, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan says that this congregation couldn’t disperse because of the nationwide lockdown on March 24.  But he won’t tell that on March 16 itself, no more than 50 were allowed to gather in Delhi.  On March 19, all institutions had been ordered close. On March 22, the Delhi government had announced a lockdown in the Capital. Lawyer Prashant Bhushan too has rushed to the defence of Tablighi Jamaat. He said in a tweet: “it’s unfair to blame them.”

Indeed, a series of incidents, such as ones in Shaheen Bagh, Jamia, Jaffrabad, Seelampur point towards an “Islamic insurrection of sorts  which has come to the surface in the wake of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)”, tweets Amit Malviya, head of the BJP IT cell. Thousands of preachers from abroad were in the town, concealing their purpose of visit. It’s as good a reason as any to press ahead with CAA-NPR-NRC exercise. India needs to find out the enemies who are illegally residing within its borders.

(This article is heavily based on pieces in New York Times and Live Mint. Of course references to Tablighi Jamaat as recruiting ground for terrorist networks such as Al Qaeda won’t be mentioned in our corrupt Lutyens Media).

Hindus, remember this face: He is the biggest threat to your survival

(This is a reprint from NewsBred).

Hindus of India—there is no other nation for them in the world—beware. George Soros, the face of evil, has come out in open against you. He has spoken against “Hindu nationalist state” of Narendra Modi and stoked fears of Muslims on Kashmir and Citizenship Act. It’s a warning that he would throw India into turmoil. A long night is ahead of us.

(As a twitterati puts it: “Mahabaharat and Samudra Manthan! Two events in which there were clearly two sides. Perhaps we are nearing a third such event.”)

Most of you won’t know him. But looking at morning’s newspapers or watching TV channels who back “tukde-tukde gang,” you should have some idea of the hold he has on India’s deep and dark ecosystem which hid him from your gaze for so long. Now he is out in open.  You would also now be able to connect the dots on protests and violence on the streets; recognize the political actors and media who are out to remove Modi and leave you a headless chicken. Trust me, it’s now or never: Be counted.

I expose this devil to you in reverse order: (a) What the democratic world thinks about him; (b) Profile the man who thinks he is a God and what shapes his worldview; (c) Cite his monstrous acts and back it with authentic, leaked sources (d) How he brainwashes you with his hold on media and academia.

The free world on George Soros

After being ousted from office in the wake of 2016 Panama Papers scandal, Iceland’s prime minister Sigmundur Davio Gunnlaugsson accused Soros of having bankrolled a conspiracy to remove him from power;

In November 2018, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Edrogan denounced Soros as the man who “assigns people to divide nations and shatter them”;

The United States president Donald Trump has alleged that cash was being handed out to people in Honduras to storm the US border and suggested the cash might have come from Soros;

Italy’s former deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini has accuses Soros of wanting to fill his country with migrants because “he likes slaves”;

The leader of the UK’s Brexit Party, Nigel Farage, has claimed Soros is encouraging people “to flood Europe” and “in many ways is the biggest danger to the entire Western World”;

Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orban claims that Soros has a secret plot to flood Hungary with migrants and destroy their nation. “We are fighting an enemy that is different from us. Not open but hiding. Not straightforward by crafty. Not honest but unprincipled…feels it owns the world.”

Indeed, the Hungarian government spent 100m Euros on a media campaign, warning voters not to let Soros “have the last laugh” in elections last October.

The man who thinks he is a God

Soros, now pushing 90 and one of world’s richest man, is Hungarian by birth. “Soros” means “soar” in Esperanto, the language its believers-like his father did–want to be the world tongue. A worldview where nationalism would disappear, along with dialects and boundaries.

After World War II, Soros attended London School of Economics. He became hooked to the writings of Karl Popper (1902-94), the Viennese-born professor who advocated Open Society, a place where tribal affinities to religion and nationalism would’ve no place.

After graduating, Soros became a banker and mastered the craft of arbitraging—making profits by trading currencies. He relocated himself to New York City in 1959. He formulated his own Theory of Reflexivity, where if you could observe a phenomenon from afar, you could be on top of it. It allowed him to make massive money in the Recession of 1973 as well as in 2008, and he is known as “the man who broke the Bank of England” in 1992. Aware that the British government was promoting the pound sterling, Soros acquired millions of pounds. Bad press, political infighting, and resignation of Prime Minister John Major followed, pound sterling was withdrawn from European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM) and the currency plummeted. Soros now sold his stuff and pocketed over $1 billion. Pensions diminished of retirees; old people had their savings wiped out.

Soros was beginning to “fancy myself as some kind of god,” as he himself was to state later. The influence of Karl Popper was evident long before and his obsession with open borders made him launch Open Society Foundations in 1979. The dubious foundation presently operates in 120 countries and has so far donated over $32 billion towards causes which end up destroying societies, religions and nations.

Soros, the crimes and the proof

In 2016, DC Leaks, got into the Soros files and released them. The disclosures concerned Soros’ Open Society Foundations aim to eradicate national sovereignty. A key paper described the Syrian refugee crisis as an opportunity to create havoc in societies; flood Europe and the US and make the old borders and institutions irrelevant.

DC Leaks further revealed that Open Society Foundations funded groups which had devoted themselves to BDS (Boycott, Disinvestment, Sanctions) in both Israel and Palestine.

In the United States, in order to destabilize the Roman Catholic Church, Soros promoted Left-leaning Catholic groups who promoted gay marriage, abortion and physician-assisted suicide. Bill Donohue, president o the Catholic League didn’t mince his words when Soros’ let loose his forces before the arrival of Pope Francis’ to the United States in 2015. He accused such forces of fomenting revolution, creating mutiny and are “front for George Soros…and designed to create fissures in the Catholic Church.”

Another Soros’ intiative is Black Lives Matter, a radical group which propositions that police are inherently racist. A rabid propaganda ensures that police is frozen into inaction and “depolicing” occurs. (Do draw a parallel with situation in Jamia, JNU and Shaheen Bagh protests which has reduced police into inaction). Open Society Foundations has donated hundreds and thousands of dollars to Black Lives Matter.

Two decades ago, Soros began campaign to decriminalize marijuana and other illegal drugs. The stress was on counseling and rehabilitation of the drug-users and not arrest or imprisonment. Poisonous propaganda led many states in the United States to legalize marijuana in due course. But data proves that drug-use has only increased and not decreased. Youth are losing vitality and the social fabric of the society is thus weakened.

Soros’ hold on media

It’s been documented that Soros controls media through actions which are labyrinthine in nature. WikiLeaks has shown Soros’ journalists shaped media coverage of events in Ukraine. His operatives were instructed to “select journalists from the five target countries (Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Greece) and offered them long-stay reporting trips in Ukraine.” The operatives retained a right to veto on stories—and thus they could shortlist and shape what they wanted journalists to write.

There are several NGOs which George Soros operates or finances. It donated $100 million to Human Rights Watch. CIA-created Radio Free Europe—which played its role in the breakup of Yugoslavia—is funded by Soros. His International Crisis Group had luminaries such as Zbigniew Brzezinki and General Wesley Clark, once NATO supreme allied commander for Europe. Stephen Solarz, one the group’s vice-chairman, was a signatory to a letter in 1998 which asked President Bill Clinton to bring down “Saddam and his regime” in Iraq. Soros’ business partners at the Carlyle Group—one of world’s largest private equity funds—made massive profits from defense contracts.  These partners included former secretary of state James Baker and Frank Carlucci, former defense secretary.” Again, Soros had invested more than $100 million in Carlyle Group.

It’s easy to see how Soros remains out-of-bounds for most governments. He works through charity and donations to groups he can control or influence. He is difficult to pin down, a faceless enemy to societies and nations. Anarchy could lead to weakening of governments; institutions and national assets become up for grab for investor-sharks such as Soros. In the Sorosian world order, constitutional republics must be weakened and its allies degraded.

That Soros is now interested in India should tell you the threat Modi and the rise of Hindus is proving to the global Left. It’s an effort to destroy governments and impose dictatorship of the elites across the landscape. Left never allows natives to rise: it’s an existential battle for India and Hindus.

No outrage on Lanka as in Christchurch shootings: The face of our Liberals

(This is a reprint from NewsBred).

The bomb blasts in Sri Lanka which have killed over 200 people are markedly different from Christchurch shooting of only a month ago.

The mass-shooting in two different mosques in Christchurch which left 50 dead, justifiably drew world’s horror and outpouring of sympathy.  New Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern became a global phenomenon for wearing a chadar while sympathizing with the bereaved families. Every leader of the world worth his salt shed tears. Donations poured in amounting to millions. Rock concerts were organized to help. In many ways, sympathy and support dumbed the outrage.

The Sri Lanka tragedy was already ebbing in a matter of hours. There are no editorials underlining the threat of Islamic extremism to the free world. Even though a Jihadi Islamist group, with links to Islamic State (IS), is suspected, the description in our newspapers is about a “local network…without any criminal background.” Islam as a violent ideology is not in debate. Instead, it is circumcised and localized.

Why the Western world is afraid of “Islamophobia”(fear against Islam’s ideology)?

Two things are at work here.  One, such is the flux of petro-dollars since discovery of oil in the Middle East in the 1970s that money and donations have poured in from the Wahhabi countries of Saudi Arabia, Qatar,  Kuwait, UAE etc which have subsidized governments, Liberal networks and Western newspapers and led to bursts of madrasas and mosques on their lands. There is exponential growth in monumental Islamic charities around the world.

Two, is the prevalent attitude of Liberals around the world which treat Islam as a “minority” and hence a just case for protection against “Islamophobia.” They are unwilling to look at Islamic history, the resolve of its ideologues and the violence spilling blood on their streets and metros as a daily occurrence.  Inconvenient voices, such as those of Christopher Hitchens and Tommy Ribinson,  are never given a proper hearing.

No heed is paid when one of the most influential living Islamic scholars of Sunni Islam (Yusuf al-Qaradawi assures his followers: “We will conquer Europe, we will conquer America! Not through the sword, but through dawa (outreach).” (As it is in India where the mention of Ghazwa-e-Hind — conquering of India–by its proponents is routinely glossed over).

How many have paid attention to WikiLeaks cables which points out how Saudi Arabia manipulates the foreign media outlets? That in Finland, citizens have to make a distinction between “Islam” and “Radical Islam” or else they stand prosecuted and fined (A Finnish politician, Terhi Kiemunki, was fined 450 euros for writing of a “culture and law based on a violent, intolerant and oppressive religion)? It’s true of most liberal Europe. Liberals call everyone and anyone as “xenophobic” or “Islamophobic” for criticizing Islam. They don’t realize it’s their way of life which is under threat. Everytime an Australian senator speaks out against Islam, he is publicly manhandled, and his words are brushed under the carpet. Tolerating the intolerance inherent in a creed is actually stopping it from curing itself of its dead weeds.

So watch the reaction of the world as it desists clamping down on radical Islam on Sri Lanka tragedy. They would be quick to pounce if an aggrieved citizen, sick of Jihadi Islamists around him, takes recourse to what mass-killer Brenton Harrison Tarrant did in Christchurch against Muslims. Closer home you can read Indian Express which names only the name of the suspect organization without mentioning its Islamic Jihadi roots on Sri Lanka horror.

So be aware, be vocal against the powers which cotton-wool the truth and put our world in danger and blunt the process of reformation of a violent ideology.

Congress and its’ Soz and Karra; and why India is worried

Saifuddin Soz is no ordinary Congress leader. Since 1980s, he’s often been in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha either on National Conference or Congress representation. A multiple-time Union minister, the last time under Manmohan Singh’s UPA between 2006-2009, he was one of the front-runners for the post of Vice-President in 2007 and 2012.

Soz draws his heft because of his influence in the Kashmir Valley. He surely has had access to separatist leaders of the state: A US diplomatic cable leaked by Wikileaks claimed he was a go-between contact between the Indian government and secessionist forces. Indeed, the leaked cable of US Ambassador to India David Mulford to US State Department described Soz as a long-standing “contact” of the US Embassy’s political section.

Soz is now in news because of his new book. By claiming that the first choice of Kashmiris is independence, a stance similar to terrorists and secessionists for three decades now, he has put the glare on his party. Congress is also under the lens because the dreaded terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) run by Hafiz Saeed from Pakistan soil, has come out in praise of Congress.

In case the readers need a reminder, LeT has been banned as a terrorist organization by US, UK, European Union, Russia, Australia and of course India. Its stated objective is secession of Kashmir. A traumatized India has accused LeT for its involvement in the 2001 Indian Parliament and 2008 Mumbai attacks. Hafiz Saeed, as its founder in 1987, had received funding from Osama bin Laden.

Congress has further earned the ire of millions of Indians because one of its senior leaders, Ghulab Nabi Azad, once the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has accused Indian army of planning a  “massacre” in the Valley. Congress’ dug the knife deeper with its insensitive attempt to defend Azad, As millions see it, Congress is rubbing shoulders with the secessionists and are deep in trenches with them against the Indian army.

Congress may yet take action against Soz or slap the wrist of Azad. But discerners see no sign from them on standing next to the brave and beleaguered Indian army. Their human rights begins and ends on Kathua; there is never a word of praise when our jawans gun down a terrorist; never a drop of tear for their martyrdom or wailing widows.

On June 22, our security forces killed 4 terrorists identified with Islamic State (IS) in Anantnag district. In view of the oncoming Amarnath Yatra, starting this week (June 28), it was a laudatory achievement. The whole nation stood up as one to applaud the action. But how did Congress react???

I looked for reactions on Congress’ official stand on the matter and how its’ leaders have reacted. The Congress’ twitter handle has nothing on Soz or Azad or terrorists tackled: all it has is a retweet of PC Chidambaram and his concern “Will-there-be-a-war-with-Pakistan?” This time-tested tactics is to weaken the resolve of Indian state, peddle appeasement which in turn is an invitation to secessionist forces for the next strike.

Rahul Gandhi’s tweets? No mention. In any case the Congress supreme tweets once in two days. And when he does it is to run down Modi and his government. Shashi Tharoor? Blank.

And what about the partners Congress’ could be in bed with for upcoming elections? That mahagathbandan to “save democracy” in the country? Mamta Bannerjee? Blank. Akhilesh Yadav? Blank. Sitaram Yechury? Blank. Arvind Kejriwal? Blank. None of them have anytime for our forces; the sacrifices they make; the goals they achieve; the threats and cost they pay to themselves and their families. It is no different to the length these forces went to deny the “surgical strike.”

The message that goes across is alarming: that secessionists are acceptable but not our soldiers; that a terrorists’ life is valuable while the ones of soldiers is not; that India-breakers have unconditional support while those for India-Unity can go and jump from the Himalayas.

You may have a like or dislike for Narendra Modi; you may feel elated or cheated on account of his term so far; but you can’t be standing in support of secessionist forces. Those who want to rule India can’t be seen in sync with India-breakers.

(Post-script: While the readers ponder over the piece; it’s worth dropping a line on Tariq Hammed Karra who is a “Pakistan proxy” and “recently joined the Congress in the presence of Smt. Sonia and Rahul Gandhi,” as Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad lashed out in his press conference on Friday.

While you rush to google the man called Karra, keep this in the back of your mind that Lutyens Media more or less blanked out Prasad-on-Karra comments. But more on this, some other day, some other time).

The US links Gulen can’t deny

The world has woken up to Fethullah Gulen after Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed him for failed coup of Friday. My book, “HOW UNITED STATES SHOT HUMANITY: Muslims Ruined; Europe Next” has given a detailed background of this feud. Excerpts:

Fethullah Gulen is a 74-year- old bachelor of rather sad countenance, despite his white moustaches and strong, wide nose. For 27 years now, he has lived in a self-imposed exile in a tiny Pennsylvania town called Saylorsburg in the US. Here is his “The Camp” consisting of series of houses, a community center, a pond and acres of space. It’s the headquarters of a worldwide religious, social and political movement, “the Cemaat” or “the Community”.

Gulen leads six million followers who, in the spirit of his name, operate schools, universities, corporations, nonprofit and media organizations around the globe. In a 2008 online poll, devised by the British magazine Prospect and the American magazine Foreign Policy, Gulen was voted as the most significant intellectual of the world. Graham Fuller, a former CIA agent and author of several books on political Islam, termed Gulen as leading “one of the most important movements in the Muslim world today.”

Somehow everything in Turkey is linked to Gulen. Whatever you do, buying bakery or filing up gas, it could all be going back to Gulen’s network. Fethullah Gulen was born in 1941 in a village outside the eastern city of Erzurum. He began praying when he was only four years old, and learned Arabic from his father. At school, he joined Kurdish intellectual Said Nursi’s movement, which was similar to Sufi brotherhood. He became a state imam in 1958 and after his military service, moved to Izmir. In 1969, he began preaching his own version of Nursi’s ideas. Soon his following grew.

In due course, Gulen built schools. He formed “lighthouses” where rural kids who had come to cities to study, could stay. He founded publishing companies. By the 1980s, the statist economy in Turkey had opened up. Restrictions on religious groups had eased. In 1983, Gulen’s followers founded a conglomerate Kaynak Holding which today has several companies in retail, IT, construction and food industries. Its’ main division, Kaynak Publishing, maintains 28 publishing labels. It controls several TV stations. In 1996, loyal men encouraged by Gulen, established Bank Asya, now Turkey’s largest Islamic bank. A charity called “Is Anybody There” gives 5 to 10 per cent of its income to projects.

Schools though remain central to Gulen’s orbit. He has them in Central Asia; he runs them in far-flung places like Indonesia, Sudan and Pakistan. Even non-Muslim countries like Mexico and Japan have them. Gulenists’ school and universities are spread over 100 countries. They even had schools in Afghanistan in the 1990s.Gulen found a way to ease Islam back into Turkey’s mainstream. He played on Turkey’s past. “Turkey was once very successful and then it became so badly considered in the world,” he said. “You can not expect to sit in one place and hope things will change. You have to go out…represent your culture and values in a good way.”

Gulen had discovered that the secular Turkish Republic suffered from a cultural void. Gulen’s movement is the story of modern Turkey’s evolution towards Islam.

In 2000, Gulen was charged with treason by the Turkish state, in pre-Erdogan era. The year before, a video had surfaced in which Gulen said: “You must move in the arteries of the system, without anyone noticing your existence, until you reach all the power centres…until that time, any step taken would be too early, like breaking an egg without waiting the full 40 days for it to hatch.” Gulen denied the charge, claimed the video had been tampered with. In 2006, he was acquitted of all charges of conspiracy.

By then Turkey had gone through a tectonic shift under Erdogan. The dominance of secularists and their allies in the military was over. The rise of AK Party shrunk the space for secularists. Erdogan himself wasn’t a Gulenist. But both he and the Gulen movement had a common enemy in the old elites. It was a natural alliance. Erdogan’s biggest gain was to get the army out of politics. The support of Gulenists and their cultural affiliation of Islam were immense.

Gulenists are accused of running a parallel society in Turkey. When AK Party-backed constitutional referendum was passed in 2010, Erdogan hailed the strong support of Gulen and his media. However, rift soon began to surface. Erdogan became more powerful and more authoritative. Gulen spoke against the Turkish Marmara Flotilla issue that aimed to break the Gaza blockade and was attacked by Israeli forces in 2010. This was the moment when Erdogan began suspecting “Gulen-Israel axis” with US as puppet-master. He believed Gulen had joined forces with Zionists and West who wanted to weaken Turkey.

xxx

An international geo-strategic analyst William Engdahl has no doubt Gulen is a CIA prop. His arguments are compelling. “There is more to Gulen and his Cemaat” than it’s pious mask.

US feared Soviet Union during the Cold War in 1970s. It also kept an eye on Turkey. Soviet Union and Turkey were both God-less nations. Gulen and his moderate Islam fitted the US agenda. He could cause “unrest” among Muslims of Turkey or ones in Soviet Union and its Central Asian vessel states. Central Asia is also a vital region between China and Russia.

The Chechnya terror of the 1990s alarmed Russia. It understood the Muslim orientation of Gulen’s methods. Russia moved swiftly to ban Gulen’s schools. Gulen was further alarmed when Kurdish movement leader Abdullah Ocalan was kidnapped from Nairobi and brought to Turkey in 1999. Sensing he would be next, Gulen fled to the United States.

Erdogan, Ocalan and Gulen are three power centres of Turkey. Erdogan runs the country; ulen runs a “parallel state” with his “cells” in police, security, intelligence, army, education etc in thousands while Ocalan, as head of the militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) holds sway over 10 million Kurds or 18% of Turkish population. Before his arrest in 1999, clashes between PKK and the state had cost Turkey 40,000 lives. For a decade, between 1999-2009, Ocalan was the sole prisoner on the Imrali island in the Sea of Marmara.

Gulen didn’t want such a fate. He fled Turkey to avoid prosecution for treason. He didn’t choose Central Asia, Middle East or Russia. He saw security only in the United States.

His quest for preference visa, green card and permanent US residence was smoothened by three CIA operatives—George Fidas, US ambassador to Turkey and an ex-CIA deputy director; Morton Abranowitz of state department and an “informal” CIA link; and Graham E. Fuller who spent 27 years with the CIA. One of Gulen’s official references to the court for his residency, was Graham Fuller.

Fuller’s daughter Samantha was married to Ruslan Tsarni, a Chechen whose two nephews were behind the Boston Marathon bombings of April 15, 2013 which killed 3 people and injured 264 others. Ruslan worked for companies associated with Halliburton, the multinational juggernaut run by Dick Cheney before he became vice-president of the United States. He was “consultant” for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Kazakhstan. Russia barred USAID from its soil in late 2012 alleging USAID and CIA were exacerbating the Chechen terrorism.

Fuller served 15 years as an intelligence officer in various countries of the Middle East and Asia. He was deeply involved in Afghanistan in the 1980s; helped arm Iran against Iraq and suggested to the Clinton administration to use Muslims to further US interests in Central Asia. He wrote a book about Turkey, “The New Turkish Republic” in 2008 where he advocated “moderate Islam,” with heaps of praise on Gulen.

Gulen, however, was seen by insiders as anything but moderate. WikiLeaks reveal Istanbul chief Rabbi Ishak Haleva had warned US of Gulen, saying he is a “radical Islamist” hiding behind the cloak of moderation. In 2010, a retired Turkish intelligence chief, Osman Nuri Gundes claimed in his memoirs that Gulen’s movement had been providing cover for the CIA since mid-90s. It “sheltered 130 CIA agents” at its schools in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan alone. Hundreds of these agents functioned under cover as “native-speaking English teachers.”

Abramowitz, another of Gulen’s facilitator in the US, officially worked under the state department. He served on board of the US Congress-financed National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and was a co-founder with George Soros of the International Crisis Group (ISG). Both the groups have been implicated in various US government-backed “colour revolutions” since the 1990s collapse of the Soviet Union: from Otpor in Serbia to the 2004 Orange Revolution in Ukraine; the 2009 Green Revolution in Iran to 2011 Lotus Revolution in Tahrir Square in Egypt to 2013-14 coup in Ukraine.

Gulen had hired Karen Hughes to brush up his “moderate Islam” image. Hughes was a long-time Bush confidant and loyalist. In 1984, she was Texas press coordinator for the Reagan-Bush campaign. Since 1994, she worked with George Bush first as director of his campaign for the office of governor of Texas, and then as a counselor from 2001 to 2002 while he was president of the United States. Bush appointed Karen Hughes as undersecretary of state for public diplomacy on March 14, 2005.

The “Deep State” within the US had used Gulen to demonize Erdogan when the latter began to drift away by 2010. Erdogan allegedly violated US oil sanctions against Iran. He also was at odds with US over’s Israel’s offensives in the Gaza strip. Erdogan accused Israel of “genocide” of Palestinians. A volley of words flew between Washington and  Ankara. Erdogan made public that he had stopped any phone contact with President Barack Obama.

A corruption scandal against Erdogan blazed the headlines before the presidential elections in 2013. Wiretap recordings of senior officials were leaked and posted on the internet. One such leak that emerged in February 2014 allegedly had Erdogan instructing his son Bilal to dispose off 30 million euros. Erdogan supporters saw the hands of Gulen, and US, behind it.

By mid-2014 Erdogan government had cracked down. Several were held for setting up bugs on Erdogan. Dozens of police officials were detained. Before the year was out, Erdogan had won the first presidential elections. A Turkish court now issued a warrant for Gulen’s arrest. Erdogan accused him of running a parallel government. He urged US authorities to extradite Gulen.

(NewsBred adds: The renewed demand of Erdogan for US to extradite or arrest Gulen is sure to cause bad blood between two allies. It could have huge ramifications for allies’ fight against Islamic State (IS), the refugees issue and Turkey’s tilt towards Russia of late. Turkey, it seems, has all but given up hope of joining European Union.

The book, “HOW UNITED STATES SHOT HUMANITY: Muslims Ruined; Europe Next” is available on all platforms.)

Ms Sonia Gandhi: Tell us he is not your Hit-Man

Even if it bores you please pay attention to English newspapers closely for the agenda followed by them could be seen even by a blind. Their agenda is to break-up India into parts, to Balkanize it, We must not allow it to happen.

You could find these tell-tale signs by their front and edit pages. These are considered “heart” of a newspaper. For example, Indian Express who is more brazen than others today makes no mention of Indian home minister Rajnath Singh informing the Lok Sabha that key documents related to the preparation of the second affidavit in the Ishrat Jahan case were not traceable in his ministry and an internal probe was on. (Times of India and Hindustan Times did make it a front page story. Kudos).

Then comes the edit page. The Express op-Ed page has two pieces; one by Archana Prasad who feels that BJP is polarizing opinion but since she is a professor of JNU we could take it with a pinch of salt. The second is an issue I want your utmost attention—it’s a piece of Harsh Mander with the scary headline: “Can the Indian Spring be far behind?” (interestingly, there is no mention of Indian Spring in the article!!! But Express is a zealot these days, fit to be pulled up by regulating agencies).

This Indian Spring is a take on Arab Spring. To put the bare-facts of Arab Spring, it’s hailed in western and our media as spontaneous people’s uprisings against repression, from Libya and Egypt to Syria and Yemen, the so-called Middle East North Africa (MENA).

Christopher L. Brennan, in his book “Fall of the Arab Spring: From Revolution to Destruction” views this widespread Arab upheaval, not as authentic grass-root movements for democracy but as a US-engineered destabilization moves.

Similarly, Ahmed Bensaad’s 2011 book “L’Arabesque Americaine” concerns the US government’s role in instigating, funding and coordinating the Arab Spring “revolutions.

Wikileaks cables also support covert funding for such activities.  We all know Libya, Syria, Yemen and Egypt are worse off for these Spring revolutions. Here you have Mr Mander/Indian Express praying for an “Indian Spring” of similar catastrophe to Balkanize our India.

Mr Mander keeps writing edit pieces in Hindustan Times and Indian Express. It’s time readers know about his background.

Mander, a former IAS officer, was a member of the National Advisory Council which was termed as Sonia Gandhi’s kitchen cabinet.

Mander “voluntarily took retirement” but media termed it as “quitting,” anguished as he was because of the 2002 Gujarat riots.

He wrote an op-ed in Times of India, post-Godhra riots, which the Press Council of India (PCI) called “LIES.”

The Press Council of India reprimanded Mander by stating, “guilty of spreading false rumours about alleged Hindu atrocities” in his column: “Hindustan Hamara” dated 20/3/2002. The decision by the PCI was pronounced on 30/6/2002 vide decision reference 14/06/02-03

His modus operandi has been described thus: to organize protests through NGOs against multi-nationals or nuclear projects entry into India. These companies then pay “consulting fees” …, later these protests by NGOs fizzle out or vanish without trace.

For his hard work, Mander was presented by Sonia Gandhi as the recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana award in a function attended by Jstice A.M. Ahmadi (the judge who let Union Carbide off the hook).

A book “NGOs: Activists and Foreign Funds Anti Nation Industry” by Krishen Kak and Smt Radha Rajan claims that Mander was the poster boy of NDTV and Star News (now ABP News).

Kak notes in the book: “Not a single major paper or TV channel reported the Press Council’s exposure of Mander. Not surprisingly, in addition to the Times of India, publications like the Hindustan Times, The Telegraph, Asian Age, Mainstream, Deccan Chronicle and Rashtriya Sahara were found by the Press Council of India to carry reports tending to inflame communal passions and, let it be noted, these were pro-Muslim and anti-Hindu passions (page 127).”

Mander was convenor of the drafting committee for the “Prevention of Communal and targeted violence” bill. Under the bill, Hindus were not to be considered victims of communal violence, even if they were killed, robbed, humiliated, burnt to death or even gang-raped.

Mander was part of ActionAid, the giant British multi-national with a “subsidiary” in India. It’s been said to be a global children exploitation industry. Mander’s association was worth at least 50 times the salary of its lowest paid employee.

Express these days is full of such agendas. You have a full-page devoted to Economist magazine almost daily which is a pathetic, blatant, naked propaganda for the imperial, colonial, Anglo-Zionist cause. If not Economist, then you have monstrous lies of New York Times and Washington Post filling up Express pages. In the edit pages, you have those “gurus” of think-tanks from Brookings, Observer and others trying hard to spread lies,anti-India agenda and serve Western interests.

Readers, please be alert and vigilant to this dangerous agenda.

Remember: THE PRICE OF FREEDOM IS ETERNAL VIGILANCE.

They mean to divide us.

Balkanize us.

Let’s not leave an India for our children, when in order to travel to Ludhiana, Patna, Kolkata or Bengalaru, they would need a visa.

(Actually this Kanhaiya episode is a good thing. As a journalist, I know the best way to preserve a lie is to repeat it again and again till the ”truth-holders” give up. Unfortunately for them, the majority India has taken up cudgels to fight this issue. Being hardened journalists, these “balkanizing forces” are not giving up on Kanhaiya issue. But by stretching this issue beyond a decent limit, all they have done is to lose their credibility. So folks keep up your opposition, and let them shed the last fig-leaf they are keeping in front of their naked reality.)
